Exchanging one addiction for another?

It's now been almost 5 weeks since I've lit up a real tobacco cigarette. My concern now is whether or not I'm relying on the nicotine in the electronic cigarettes... Have I just exchanged one addiction for another?

I find that I do not use the electronic cigarette in the morning... I can go almost all day without smoking the e-cigarette. I actually tried to put it away entirely and managed to last just under one week.

The most difficult times seem to be when I just get home from work, or if I'm playing poker online. I have ordered some eJuice with No nicotine and am awaiting the arrival of this item so that I can see if it is the tactile action of putting something in my mouth, sucking on it, and blowing out smoke that reduces my craving for a real tobacco cigarette; or is it the nicotine in the eCartridge?

I will blog again in the next while, and after I have began using the no-nicotine cartridges. At least I'm not inhaling the other numerous carcinogens that are present in a real tobacco cigarette!

Buck reviews the 901PCC electronic cigarette kit

The electronic cigarette kit that I have used thus far to quit smoking is the 901PCC.

This kit comes in a plastic case about the same size and shape as a 20 pack of cigarettes. The cool thing about this kit is that you have the option of using the screw-in atomizer and attaching the pre-filled cartridges that come in the kit.
What I like about this kit, is that if you are wanting to eventually quit smoking entirely, this kit contains everything you'll need to slowly ween yourself off nicotine. It comes complete with 2 High strength cartridges, 2 Medium strength cartridges, 1 Low strength cartridge, and 1 Zero strength cartridge.

I have actually used eJuice or nicotine liquid to refill these cartridges with success. The secret is that you use at least 4 0 6 drops of the liquid otherwise it doesn't last too long.

If you want, you can remove the screw-in atomizer and use "cartomizers" which is the type that each cartridge contains it's own atomizer. Both work well.

I was impressed with the battery life and the charging time on this product. I could puff on this one most all day long and the battery would not die out, plus the charging time is less than 2 hours!
I give this product a 5 butt rating!

Buck quit smoking tobacco cigarettes September 27th, 2011

I have been a pack and a half a day smoker since the age of 15. I decided to quite putting the harmful carcinogens into my body on the evening of September 27th of this year.

My plan was to change to the modern electronic cigarette. I was tired of feeling like, and being treated like a social outcast. Can't smoke here, you smell, little children turning their noses up at me when they notice that I'm a smoker.

I had tried the electronic cigarette products about a year ago and I found that some where better than others, some actually smoked and felt like a real tobacco cigarette, while others were just plain 'crap'.

I was introduced to the electronic cigarette by friend and when he described it to me, I had a hard time imagining the product. Finally I ordered one online. It was the type that had an atomizer built into the battery portion. I would order nicotine cartridges that would slip onto the atomizer. The problem with this type of electronic cigarette product was that the vapour or smoke that it produced was ok at the beginning or for say, the first 10 to 15 puffs, but then slowly the vapour produced became less and less, and the product felt less and less like a real cigarette.

The problem with this type of product, I now realize, is that the atomizer, the part of the electronic cigarette that changes the nicotine juice or liquid into vapour or smoke, would slowly become clogged with use. I found that if I waited 5 to 10 minutes between puffs, the cigarette would rejuvenate itself. (Not what an avid ex-smoker wants to do... wait 5 - 10 minutes between puffs)

When I relayed my disappointment to the company I purchased the product from, they explained and described to me the 'cartomizer' option. A 'Cartomizer' is a nicotine cartridge that contains it's own atomizer.... that way, every time I change a cartridge, I am replacing the atomizer and therefore the draw and smoke produced stayed more constant and was much closer to the feel of a real tobacco cigarette. I give cartomizers a 4 out of 5 'butt' rating!
